(Scottsdale, Ariz. June 7, 2016) – Symmetry Software is proud to announce Software Developer Kenny Smith, an integral member of Symmetry Software’s team, passed the 1Z0-808 portion of the Java SE 8 Programmer I Certification test last Wednesday with a 94%.
Part of the Oracle Certification Program, this test states Smith’s skills and knowledge of the Oracle implementation of Java is of the highest level. The exam also has a second portion to receive full professional accreditation, which Smith plans to take within the coming months.
Exam topics include Java basics, working with Java data types, using operators and decision constructs, using loop constructs, working with inheritance, and more. Oracle creates the exam, its set up and topics, and has PearsonVue administer it at a third party exam center.
“I learned a lot of things about Java that I didn’t already know, and somethings I had forgot,” said Smith. “Initially I just wanted to take it, but when I mentioned it to my manager Steve Meixner, he encouraged the idea.”
Preparing for the exam saw Smith writing practice code, reading language specification documents and ensuring he understood specific concepts and details of the language. Personal and professional development are highly encouraged at Symmetry Software, so Smith was able to study for the exam without worry or interference with his job duties.
